How do you turn a bicycle into a electric powered bike without buying a conversion kit?

When I say without a kit I mean buying all the parts and assembling it yourself.

there is one made from a cordless drill con its slow
there are ones that reach 80 mph con 2 miles range
conversions are the cheepest and safest way to go
do u have a lathe?
do u know ohm's law?
do u know murphy's law?
