Forget it: Your mini bike has no way of powering lights--no battery and no charging circuit.

Mini-bike light question?

Ken

I bought my son a Baja Motorsports Doodlebug Mini-bike for Christmas. I would like to add a head/tail light combo for added vis/safety. The engine is a pull start Briggs/Stratton type, Is there a way to use the stator in conjunction with a small regulator to power a LED light kit? If I am overthinking it, can anyone recommend a rechargeable LED light kit strong enough to use as a headlight/taillight combo? I don't want to do massive mods to the bike, just provide some light.
I appreciate the answer about adding a starter, but I don't want to mod the bike that much. It is a pull start with no battery. I guess I need someone to recommend a good light kit.

Answer
Unfortunately no the engine would have to have been equipped with an electric start to have a lighting/charging coil, a different flywheel with another magnet and the lugs to bolt the coil to, which yours wont have, although there a few manufactures of the 6.5 Honda Clone engine with the electric start feature, run ya around $250 on Ebay, other than that it's time to hit Walmarts bicycle section and pick up the battery operated variety
