2011 kx250f question?

edgehead

What does the fuel injection exactly do, and are there any cons to having it?

Answer
Fuel injection does just what it says. It injects fuel into the engine.

This used to be done with a mechanical carburetor, but newer motorcycles use fuel injection.

Pros:
1. Extremely fuel efficient.
2. Fuel & air mixtures are always correct through all rpm ranges.

Cons:
1. Electrical components.
2. Electrical sensors.
3. Electric fuel pump.
4. Processing computer.

Electrical components can short out, fry or not get enough voltage and not function properly. Sensors can become coated and cease to function. Dirt can clog injector jets, just like a manual carburetor.

I'm old fashion. I like a manual carburetor to run my race bikes. It's the K.I.S.S. Principal (Keep It Simple Stupid). The less electrical and/or mechanical items you have, the less problems can occur. On an injected bike you have to worry about O2 sensor, MAS sensor, fuel pump and the processing computer.

whitch dirt bike should i get?
