Answer
I have some experience with electric bikes. Here's what I know.

Any of the cheaper electrics, $500 or less, will not last a long time. If you take care of it, treat it nice, do EXACTLY what the instructions say regarding charging and riding, you'll probably get 2 years of regular use out of it. That's really not bad in my opinion for an inexpensive bike. It will probably save you that much in gas if you use it enough.

That being said, there are some more expensive electrics out there that are really good. The one I have experience with is the Giant Suede E. It's $1000, and will probably last years longer than those cheaper ones. You still have to take proper care of the battery, and try not to ride it through lakes, or into the ocean, but it's a quality bike, made to ride often and be durable.

Either way, you're getting something that will make it easier to bike, so you can get your workout, but not have to worry about getting home. If you use it for short trips around town it can save you tons in gas, not to mention the environment, and frankly, they're just fun to ride.

How much those electric exercise bikes cost.?
