Does anyone know of an active place to discuss and learn more about electric motor design? Specificaly, pancake or hub motors commonly used on electric bikes and newer hybrid cars.

How long do brushes usually last in a hub motor for electric bikes?

I have a crystalyte sparrow hub motor and ive only used it for 100 hours and now it doesnt work. Can brushes run out that fast. Also is there special tools needed to replace the brushes for the motor, or is it a simple procedure. Please tell me how to replace brushes. Thanks

the springs on the brushes are a bit unruly but it can be done
