I am designing an electric bike for commuters to use day in, day out. I am asking you guys who live on the outskirts of cities to give me what you want in the perfect personal transport. This product is made for the masses and made by the masses. Any answers will be appreciated and taken into account. Thanks all!
May i add that this is a conceptual design project :)

Answer
I've been working on the same thing for different clients for years, but I'll tell you what things designers are trying to overcome:

1) Weight. The current technologies simply do not allow an e-bike that weighs under 50 pounds. A good target weight should be in the mid-20s;

2) Battery size. The size of even the smallest battery right now takes up precious space for carrying other stuff, and if the battery gets too small the range is reduced tremendously. Right now, Mitsubishi probably makes the best battery/motor combination;

3) Loaded range. Put a rider and 35 pounds of gear on the bike and ride it up a 5% grade, 1 mile long hill two or three times. Nuff said.

What is your best advice for an electrical bicycle?

Friends

I have an aluminium bicycle and was thinking of adding an electric wheel. However, I fancy those bikes that that recharge downhill.

Besides I am looking to pedal at constant speed and let the electric motor adjust to increasing demands.

What kind of bike is suitable for this?

I was thinking of outfitting my own bike, because I am tall and have the feeling that the electric bikes may not fit me, or, do these come in large sixes?

Thanks

Rehman of Multan

Answer
recharge downhill?
that doesn;t work

no electric bike is really powerful or long range

if the batteries die, they are too heavy to pedal up any hill at all

what is a 'multan'?

wle.

Is there anything we can do to stop the hemorrhaging of our US economy?

Q. It seems with credit being tightened so mightily so that the consumer can't get a loan without having a nearly perfect credit score; and with wages not keeping pace with inflation; and with the price of necessities like food, shelter and fuel rising at extreme rates; is there anything we can do to stop this death spiral?

Answer
This when we the people need to stop living beyond our needs and go back to moderate living standards and stop wasting food and products. Of course a high percentage of folk say that, but don't do it either...the cost...our economy. I for one have cut down on many things and find a savings of around $500 a month and still finding ways to cut back on our house hold spending. We have grown a beautiful garden of our own and that has added to the savings...we spend a bit more on water, but it does not compare to the prices at the supermarket. I put a basket on my mountain bike and use it for picking up things at the grocery store and paying bills...good exercise and it cuts back on using unnecessary gas. Closing the blinds in the house during the day helps keep it cooler when we have to use the air in 100+ degrees and keeping the lights off. We have even bought a evaporating cooler for the days that are under a 100 degrees, it uses no more electric than a fan. Recycling also bring income in, too. This all takes works, but think of it this way...you are making a difference.

There are so many more things that I can write here, but take a look around your home and see what you can do to cut down the expenses in your home first and that will help save you money.

I'm looking for an alternative way to get to work and I'm thinking of buying a scooter. Help?

I would like something I could ride on the sidewalk and that goes at least 10 mph. I would prefer a gas scooter and it needs to have 3 wheel because I have 0 balance. Also under $1,500

Answer
Most places gas scooter are not allow on the sidewalk.
Thereare electric scooter that fit your needs, however you better check with the local laws about using them on the sidewalk.
Either should be allow on the bike side of the street.
