What are the laws for electric bike CONVERSIONS in Ontario? (Not the laws for pre-built ebikes from manufacturers)

I live about 2 miles from work, and have a bike path directly to the office. I want to get an electric bike or convert my beach cruiser to an electric bike. Thoughts on this? Suggestions?

Only two miles I would just ride my bike. Get a hybrid bike and enjoy the ride.
