Are yamaha DT125s a good off road bike?

Answer
They were decent trail bikes. They were a little heavier than the DT 100 and the DT 175 because the 125 had electric start and the 100 & 175 didn't. They didn't have much power. But they were a dependable bike. And they maneuvered through the trails in the woods pretty good. Women trail riders loved them because of the elctric start and because they were easy to ride.

Why do some women have kids just to dump them in daycare?

They ca

Now that I have your attention, I have a legit question. Why do people have children just to dump the child off in school once they turn 5 years old? We have these people making judgements about daycare, yet isn't school the same thing? Kids are in school for about the same amount of time. Just think we they get older and are involved in sports/band/choir/etc. How terrible that these children can't spend every second of everyday with their parents.
(note the sarcasm)
Kimberly, see where Isaid note the sarcasm?//I posted this because Ise daycae-bashing question every day. MY ids aren't in daycare but I know parents who have to put their kids in daycare. I've seen people say on here "Oh, those poor childrne have to be away from mommy 8 hours out of the day." Now remind me how many hours a child is in school? Isn't it 7 or 8. Then when they start with sports and then an after school job when they turn 15 or 16, that's even less time with mommy and daddy. Why don't these same people complain about this even though not sending your kid to school is illegal?

Answer
Like Ellie said, thank goodness you were being sarcastic, cause I was very tempted to give you a tongue lashing too! :)

I don't understand why either group, (the SAHM's or the working moms), feel it necessary to insult and put down others for the choice they have made. The comment that people have made, "Why have kids if you are going to have daycares raise the?" is just really rediculous! So basically, without just outright saying it, these people are saying that unless someone is financially able to stay at home with their children and not use a daycare or a private babysitter, then they don't deserve to be a parent. That is very judgemental and just plain hateful. Not every woman has the luxery of falling in love and marrying a man who makes $35-60,000 a year. I married one who only makes about $25,000 and brings home alot less after he pays child support on his children from his ex-wife and insurance premiums on all the kids. I don't think the fact that I didn't marry someone who made alot of money, means that I dont deserve to have children.

What about a woman who is widowed? My best friend was widowed with 2 young children, and had no choice but to work to support her kids. So I guess according to some of these women, she didn't deserve to have the kids, because she ended up having to put them in daycare. Point is, no woman, even these ones that are so freely judgeing working moms, know how their life will turn out and what might happen to them.

I don't know any woman who enjoys dropping her kids off at a daycare in the mornings, I certainly don't. But my husband and I live in an older house, and have had alot of things break, like our hot water heater, pipes, leaking roof. We have not had the money to repair these things outright, so we have had to charge them on a credit card. The motor on my car blew up and it cost over $2,000 to fix it, so again that went on the credit card. I was a SAHM for 18 months, and any unexpected large expense that came up, went on that cerdit card. So, I will be trying to pay all that off for years now. But it was either do that, or go without hot water, or no water, or have no vehicle. Which would have ended up hurting my kids more than me. So I did go back to work, and I do have to take my daughter to a babysitter during the day.

I do not live an extravagant life. I don't go shopping every month, I don't have a Coach purse, we don't have 4 wheelers or motor bikes, we don't go on vacations, we don't eat out every week, I don't buy new clothes for myself on even a monthly basis. If I have an extra money, from working over time or getting a bonus at work, I spend it on my husband or kids, not on myself. I took some extra money I had about 4 years ago, and bought my husband one of those $65.00 do-it-yourself outdoor pond kits, and some cheap 25 cent goldfish to go in it, and helped him make it, for fathers day, and I have had women on here tell me that was an expensive, frivolus expense and that is probably the reason I have to work, cause I am wasting money. I never knew buying my husband a fathers day gift would be considered "wasting money"!

If a mom chooses to work, because she does not want to stay at home at her childrens expense, then I don't think that makes her selfish at all. In fact I think it makes her a loving, wonderful mom. If choosing to stay at home, means that you and your husband have to stretch and skrimp so much with his paycheck, that you find yourself telling your kids "No, you can't have that, we can't afford it." or not taking them out to eat or to the movies occasionally (cause you have to pay the electric bill), not being able to buy them new clothes or toys occasionally (and I don't mean the cheap $2.00 toys at the Dollar Store that fall apart within 3 days) or you just simply have no extra money for "extras", then I do think that the mom staying at home ends up affecting the kids in a not so good way. Sure, they have mommy at home with them all the time, but if they never get the "little extras" that I know most kids would like to have and enjoy, then I think to alot of kids that is not worth it. I have seen stay at home moms, who have to skrimp and save so much that they can't even buy their kid Christmas presents or a Halloween costume. So, how is that fair to the kid?

I realize that not all daycares are great, but their are alot of women who do daycare out of their home. I found a wonderful older lady who watches kids out of her home. She is very inexpensive compaired to daycares, and my daughter learns alot from this woman. At only 2 she was talking as good as a 3 year old, was counting to 20 and could say spanish numbers too. This woman treats my daughter like she is her grandchild, and I never have to worry that she isn't getting wonderful care while I am at work. I don't go out with the girls after work or go shopping when I get off. I immediatly go get my daughter from this woman. I spend every single waking minute away from work with my kids. I do not go out, nor do I ever leave them with a sitter other than the hours I am at work. So I try to make the most of the time I am home with them.

You made a great comparrison, regardless of what others have told you. The moms who think it is better to be a stay at home mom when their kids are young, and who want to judge and insult the moms who use daycare, should homeschool their kids, if they truely feel being at home with them is better.

in comparision of hiking, biking is more effective for losing weight?

Hillary

my coach tell me that inappropriate exericise can make you more strong.
so i dont want muscle,i just want to lose my fat
http://www.aurora-bike.com/products/aurora-bike/New.html

Answer
"Strong" doesn't necessarily mean "bulky". There are lots of female athletes who are plenty strong, and plenty hot, ie, they don't look like the incredible Hulk. Runners, cyclists, and triathletes especially fall in the non-Hulk category, although they tend to be less chesty due to low body fat. Either you misunderstood your "coach" or he's more than a little confused. Women are not hormonally equipped to bulk up unless they spend excessive time and effort in the weight room.

Hiking and biking are both effective at burning calories, which of course is the objective when you're trying to shed fat. Neither does much in the way of building bulk muscle. There is no reason to choose. Do both, and more. You're more likely to keep up your exercise program if you're not doing the same old thing day in day out.

I'm not sure what your link has to do with your question. An electric bike isn't exercise.

dirt bike for a 13 year old girl?

Q. i only know a little about them and i really want to ride them. my parents had them when they where younger and at my dads cousins house they have a track because he races. i don't want something slow and i don't want anything super fast just something in the middle. im about 5`2 if that helps at all. could you tell me the basics of riding and what do you think would fit me best by the way it would probably be used from craigslist and under 1000 i was looking at like something from 1997 or up but i wouldn't really trust one that old. also what gear would i need.

Answer
Since you have never had a dirtbike, I HIGHLY recommend you stay away from 2-strokes...they are cheaper in price...but they are harder to learn on and more difficult to get the hang of. You are one inch shorter than me...I am 5'3 and I ride a crf150rb. There are two types of 150's...the race and the trail. I'm not sure which kind of bike you are looking for to start on, or if you are even wanting to race. This bike is not cheap...but you can find them used and they are amazing to start on. The crf150f is the trail version, it will have an electric start and not be as fast as the race bike. It will also have a smaller price tag. The crf150r or rb ( note that they are the same bike...the rb is just a little taller...) is a race bike. It is a pretty fast bike, but since it is a 4-stroke it does not demand being on the powerband 24/7 making it also a pretty good bike to learn on. These bikes are also excellent for your size. The bike first came out in 06 for the race version, and I'm not sure about how far back the trail version of the bikes goes.
Besides the bike, you will need some riding boots. Try some Thor Women's or Fox Comp 5 boots.
You will need a helmet. Any major mx manufactuer makes a wide variety of helmets.
You will need mx gear ( pants and jersey, gloves, googles.) You can pick whatever brand you like best for these items. There is Fox, Thor, One Industries, Answer, O'Neal, MSR, etc.
Have fun girl! Welcome to the dirtbike world! Hope you enjoy whatever you decide to get!

I have been called to serve in the Brazil Fortaleza Mission. Does anyone have any pointers?

funky_lady

I'm a girl who will be serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I leave for the MTC in Sao Paulo in July. I was just wondering about what the weather will be like, if I should bring some sweaters with me. Also if there are somethings that anyone can think of that I should for sure bring besides the normal thing of clothes and such. Thanks!

Answer
It really depends on the climate, though from what I know of Brazil, isn't a large chunk of it fairly humid and warm? I served as a sister missionary in a very warm area myself, and I learned a few things the hard way.

First, if it's as warm in Brazil as I believe, you're going to want a few things that aren't on your list.

--Handkerchiefs, and lots of them! I can't count the number of times when my companions and I went tracting and someone would stop us and ask if it'd been raining or if we'd fallen in a lake or something. Sweat is not attractive, especially on women who have to keep up appearances. Buy more of these than you're required to bring.

--Pantyhose is also an issue for girls. You'll need a few pairs of full hose for meetings, but unless your mission president specifically orders the sisters to wear full hose at all times, you'll want to avoid that. Wearing hose in major heat and while you're sweating can actually cause a very painful rash to form on your legs (which makes shaving a whole lotta fun). Knee-highs are infinitely preferable, though if you're in an area where you have to ride a bike, you'll want to avoid those, as well. I found that it wasn't really possible to wear a long skirt on a bike since it always caught on the wheels, but if you're wearing a shorter skirt, people will see the thigh-highs when you ride. That's obviously tacky. Instead, buy MANY pairs of footies--the hose that only covers your feet. You can find them at Wal-Mart. The thicker ones will last longer, though since no hose is really all that strong, you'll go through them fairly quickly.

--Sensible shoes. This should be obvious, but don't bother with anything that doesn't have a heel or that has any gaps in the toe area at all. They'll only cause pain. I found that Mary-Janes were best, since the sole is insanely thick and will last most of your mission. You'll probably need to buy them online, however, since they're ugly as sin and most stores don't carry them. Nursing shoes will also work, but try to get them in black since that color will match everything. Also, break them in BEFORE you go! No matter how often you wear them in the MTC, it won't be enough. Trust me.

--Hair ties! If it's hot, you won't want to leave your hair loose. Also, since girls have to keep their hair at least semi-respectable and this is hard to do in the field, you might want to think of how you're going to keep your hair tied up. I used a bunch of hair clips, but I had companions who just used a ton of hairspray. Whatever you decide, make sure you stock up.

--Try to purchase shirts that are wrinkle-free and don't have to be ironed. I know ironing only takes a few minutes, but time is precious.

--A good rain jacket! I'm not a big fan of the missionary mall in Utah, but they do have a rain jacket that can fit in your pocket. You'll want one like that.

--You'll also want to buy the missionary backpack at the MTC. I didn't, and I always regretted it, because finding a bag that had so many pockets was always a problem. I ended up just buying these really big bags and then wearing them across my chest so the weight wouldn't hurt my shoulders. That was okay, but the dressier shirts don't really have thick material, and the straps on the bags actually wore out the fronts a little too quickly.

--Electric adapter. You may or may not have electricity, but American hairdryers do not work in other countries. You can buy an adapter kit at pretty much any electronic store, including Wal-Mart and the missionary mall in Utah.

--A really, really good water bottle! The missionary backpack has one built in, but most of the missionaries I've known have carried an extra water bottle anyway. Try to get one with a strap, because you might not always have a place to carry it.

--Lotion, bug spray, and hand sanitizer. You will need them. Oh, and if you typically use facial moisturizer, get one with sunscreen.

--You should also bring one or two sweaters. Warm places often get cold in the winter, and you'll want them then.

I hope this list helps, and congratulations. Mission work is exhausting, but it's also a blast. You'll meet some incredible people and have some incredible experiences...after all, there's a reason why most missionaries have to be dragged back home, kicking and screaming!

Oh, and one last tip: start studying the lessons from Preach My Gospel now. Most of the time spent at the MTC will be on learning to teach, not learning the lessons themselves. If you're at least familiar with the lessons, you'll have a much easier time of it.

Congrats again!

Good for you ! Walking and riding your bike is the way to go. Maybe when these fat women see you flying along they will get off their fat asses.Fat men too !

Brenda should bear in mind that the point that this 78 year old very active gentleman is making is............. that obesity is a voluntary condition. An obese person has a choice, and that is to get rid of the fat or not, thus improving ones health. Comparisons cannot be made with an eldrely person suffering from an involuntary disease such as Alzheimer's.

pmk is dead on with that one. Go sit on a CRF150F and a CRF230F to see which is a better fit. Then if you don't want to buy a new one, search cycletrader.com for a used one in your area and price range. I have ridden the 150 and owned the 230, both are super fun easy to ride bikes. All of the 230 year models have electric start and the 2008 150 also has it. I think previous 150's were kick start only.

Q. Ok so I went aboard the ss Anne and fought all the trainers and got the cut hm. So I tried going back to cerulean city but the guard said the road was closed. Now, being the master hacker that I am, I used abra's teleport to get to cerulean city. Now I can't get back to saffron city because the officer still says the road is closed. How can I fix this? The last time I saved was on the ss Anne.

Answer
The SS Anne is in Vermilion City next to diglett cave. To get to Saffron City you need to get the tea from the old women in Celadon City, and to get to Celadon City you need to use the underground next to Lavender Town. To get to Lavender town you need to go through Rock Tunnel next to Cerulean City. Here's what to do.

1) Get off of the SS Anne and fight in the electric Gym.
2) Go through Diglett Cave and get HM Flash.
3) Teach Flash to you Abra.
4) Go back through Diglett Cave to get into Vermilion City again and get the bike coupon from the old man in the pokemon fan club.
5) Go up route 6 and into the underground tunnel to get back to Cerulean City. and use the bike coupon at the bike shop.
6) Then go across to route 9 to get to rock tunnel and use Flash in the cave to light it up.
7) when you get to the end of Rock tunnel you will be in Lavender town. Then leave to the Left to get onto route 8 and at the end there will be another underground tunnel like in Cerulean City. This will take you too Celadon City. You need to complete the Grass Gym first.
8) After the Grass Gym you need to go into the Casino in Celadon City. And go down into the basement to get the Silph Scope leave once you have it.
9) Then at the top of the city to the left of the pokemon centre there is a large building. Inside should be an old women with a cup of tea. If you take this tea to any of the guards around Saffron City they will let you in.

What is the difference between a "bicycle working prototype" and a "bicycle market prototype"?

fsacuiu

For the same bicycle product/concept there are many production phases to be accomplished until a market product get alife. During these phases different prototypes are built if required.

Answer
There can be a lot of difference. A working prototype is often cobbled together by a mechanic. A market prototype is more refined , and is an element in test marketing.
I have had experience with building prototype bicycles, and I have a few photos to share:

This is Type 3, which has a fairing made of Kevlar (Dupont trademark aramid fiber) built in 1987:
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q119/hotbike/00000008-1.jpg

After testing it on people, other suggestions were taken into consideration. The next photo is of the Type 9, built in 1993, and made of fiberglass. The fairing is smaller because testing the larger fairing in Florida revealed that the riders got to hot, it blocked off air. Also, the newer fairing has a storage compartment big enough for 12 x 12ounce beverage cans. And the new design has the fairing mounted to the frame, not the handlebars, so it is much more stable. This bike cost $270.00 to build and sold (Dutch Auction) for $1,200.00.
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q119/hotbike/00000023-1.jpg

This photo is of the Type 7, which I did not sell. The fairing was designed by the same women who designed the Type 9:
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q119/hotbike/photo003.jpg

I skipped using the number eight, because , like a game of pool, I want the eightball to be last.

Since building these bikes , there has been a lot of electric bikes going into production in China, some 16 million per year. So I would like to cut my losses by bringing in bikes from China. Maybe I will continue to build my own on a one-time, custom basis, but the consumer is only concerned about cost.

If choosing to stay at home, means that you and your husband have to stretch and skrimp so much with his paycheck, that you find yourself telling your kids "No, you can't have that, we can't afford it." or not taking them out to eat or to the movies occasionally (cause you have to pay the electric bill), not being able to buy them new clothes or toys occasionally (and I don't mean the cheap $2.00 toys at the Dollar Store that fall apart within 3 days) or you just simply have no extra money for "extras", then I do think that the mom staying at home ends up affecting the kids in a not so

What is the difference between a "bicycle working prototype" and a "bicycle market prototype"?

For the same bicycle product/concept there are many production phases to be accomplished until a market product get alife. During these phases different prototypes are built if required.

Answer
There can be a lot of difference. A working prototype is often cobbled together by a mechanic. A market prototype is more refined , and is an element in test marketing.
I have had experience with building prototype bicycles, and I have a few photos to share:

This is Type 3, which has a fairing made of Kevlar (Dupont trademark aramid fiber) built in 1987:

After testing it on people, other suggestions were taken into consideration. The next photo is of the Type 9, built in 1993, and made of fiberglass. The fairing is smaller because testing the larger fairing in Florida revealed that the riders got to hot, it blocked off air. Also, the newer fairing has a storage compartment big enough for 12 x 12ounce beverage cans. And the new design has the fairing mounted to the frame, not the handlebars, so it is much more stable. This bike cost $270.00 to build and sold (Dutch Auction) for $1,200.00.
